Founded in 2019 on the initiative of composer Elisabeth Angot, Ensemble 44 aims to forge a link between repertoire music and contemporary creation. Ensemble 44 develops its program around the work of the composers it hosts in residence, and is at the origin of commissions and creations of works. It is made up of professional musicians from the largest schools in Europe, and collaborates with major young conductors such as Gabriel Bourgoin or Léo Margue.

Ensemble 44 has performed at the Benoit XII theater, at the Parvis d'Avignon, at the Musicales du Causse in Gramat etc. For the 7th edition of the Musical and Scientific Encounters, it is the vocal group of Ensemble 44 which will offer a concert entitled "A thousand years of vocal music".
